Tariffs extended but cut in SA

Love Energy

The State Government  announced last Thursday that South Australia's solar power scheme will be extended until 2013, however the tariffs will be reduced by 63%.

Solar residents currently receive income for feeding power back into the grid at the rate of 44 cents per kilowatt hour; this will still be available for all existing customers and new entrants who sign up before September 30.

For these people this rate will be secured and guaranteed to not change until 2028.

New customers signing up after September 30 however will receive a rebate of 16c/kWh secured for four years, with an extra 6c/kWh supplied by the electricity provider.

Although this is a significant reduction, it was initially expected the South Australian Government could cut the rebates entirely.
