Electricity prices rising today in Adelaide
Electricity prices are set to increase by 17.44% for AGL customers in Adelaide today, August 1.
In real terms this rise will increase a bill of $300 every three months by $52.32, and a charge of $1,000 would be extended by $174.40.
The Sunday Mail and AdelaideNow covered a story at the weekend, revealing more and more customers are being disconnected because they are unable to afford the impact of rising electricity prices.
The two-page spread detailed there has been almost twice as many disconnections as this time last year, and a 15% rise in complaints to the industry watchdog.
Electricity prices have not been forecast to decrease in the near future, in fact with the introduction of the Carbon Tax on top of existing factors, they are predicted to continue increasing.
