Green star energy ratings to encourage solar
Green star energy ratings for homes being sold in Adelaide will cost almost $600 less than was first predicted, and promote the use of renewable energy systems like solar.
The new initiative, which will audit a household to determine its level of greenhouse emmissions and water efficiency before it is sold or rented was initially expected to cost home owners $750, but will only be $172.
State Energy Minister Michael O'Brien said there would be no return of cheap power, and this new policy would help people to increase the value of their homes whilst helping the environment.
He also praised the 90,000 energy-savy Australians who took up the solar rebate offer, when there was an initial target of just 9,000.
