Moree Solar Farm secures $66.5M

The Moree Solar Farm project in northeast New South Wales will recieve an extra $66.5 million from a new grant initiative.

The money comes as part of the Federal Government's Education Investment Fund, after the project earlier this year secured $300 million of funding through the Solar Flagships program.

The construction of the 150megawatt photovoltaic power plant, scheduled to begin in 2012, will create between 300 to 400 jobs. 

When completed it will supply power to approximately 40,000 homes, making it not only Australia's largest, but one of the world's biggest solar power plants.
