Shopping centre to pioneer in solar
Stockland Shellharbour in New South Wales is set to install the largest rooftop solar system of any shopping centre in Australia.
7,000 square metres of rooftop solar panels will be installed as part of its $300million redevelopment that will occur with the aim of making a sustainable shopping district for the local community.
With a completion date in 2013, the system will supply up to 70% of the centre's lighting and power to the common area.
The regional shopping centre lies in the Illawara region outside Sydney, also in close proximity to Woolongong and Canberra.
It's an exciting time for solar, as only last week Love Energy announced the completion of Australia's largest rooftop solar project at the University of Queensland.
