Warning against DIY solar installations

The National Electrical Communications Association (NECA) has put a stern warning to anyone considering personally installing their own solar system on their home.

Chief Executive Officer of NECA, James Tinslay, said that when performed by an unlicensed electrician solar installations are not only dangerous, but also illegal.

The warning comes after the recent theft of over half-a-million dollars worth of solar panels and inverters from a Gold Coast business.

It is feared that these parts could be sold illegally and then installed without qualified electricians.
