Australia to become seventh biggest solar market

The Process and Control Engineering website is reporting Australia is set to become the world's seventh largest solar market by the end of 2011.

Australia was ranked tenth in 2010, but IMS Research's 'Global PV Demand' report has increased the country's forecast for 2011 by almost 1GW.

It predicts Australia will produce 22GW of solar installations this year, seeing it overtake Belgium, Spain and the Czech Republic.

The world's biggest solar markets remain as Germany and Italy for the second year running, while USA, France and China round out the top five.
