Adelaide electricity prices to rise again

Love Energy

South Australian Energy Minister Michael O'Brien confirmed yesterday that Adelaide electricity bills will rise a further 8% next month.

At the start of this month AGL customers were hit with a 17% price rise, and overall since 2002 electricity prices in Adelaide have increased by 75%.

The Australian reports that this new price hike is reportedly due to the high uptake of rooftop solar in South Australia.

Michael O'Brien however explained that the price rise won't be falling on those that have already installed solar power systems and are now enjoying free energy from the sun.

"That eight per cent is actually falling not on the mortgage belt or low-income earners (who have a high uptake of solar), it's actually being picked up by wealthier residents in South Australia," Minister O'Brien said.

Despite feed-in tariffs reducing on September 30, quality solar power systems like those from Love Energy will continue to protect your home against price rises like this for years to come.

There are only two days left to lock in the current 44c/kWh feed-in tariff in South Australia though, so now is the last chance you will have to enjoy the best possible government incentives.
